What The Flux a celebration of the diverse talent and creativity from 2025’s MA student cohort at Birmingham School of Art. The exhibition showcases practices from our three distinct MA Courses: Fine Art, Arts & Project Management & Arts & Education. The flux recognises the value of being part of an interdisciplinary community and the experiments shifts and changes that occur throughout study, alongside a nod and a wink to the historic avant-gardes that provide rich inspiration in the present.
What The Flux is the culmination of students’ work within Margaret St, the exhibition is a critical moment in becoming visible as a cohort who are enriched by the ecology present within and outside of the school. Working across different media and contexts, this exhibition highlights the importance of inhabiting real spaces and a commitment to showcasing working within the world, as our students have done this year with #BCUTuesdays at Ikon Gallery. As a staff team, we congratulate this cohort and are excited to see how their work thrives and grows in the future, and how they can return to and inform the School of Art.
We invite you to celebrate the MA students’ achievements with us at the Private View on Thursday, the 21st of August 6-8pm at Birmingham School of Art. The shows are then open 11-5pm on Saturday the 23rd, and Tuesday and Wednesday the 26th & 27th of August.
